To follow-up on my post about the beauty of the 99c Only Store, I wanted to share my solution to cheap produce. Now, I do buy my garlic from the Ninety-Nine, but the rest of the produce just isn’t really the best selection.
My solution to this is Fresh & Easy’s 98c produce packs. I swear this is not a paid advertisement. I also note that I don’t buy a lot of my other groceries from there. Between being unemployed, starting a company, and going back to grad school I have to be super budget savvy. So, I follow the sales.
Of course, my number one produce choice is Hollywood’s Farmer’s Market. But, unfortunately I just get too tempted and spend way too much money there. So, until my financial aid check comes in, I have to ration myself.
F&E has at least 6 fruits and veggies to pick from, making it cheap to eat healthy. Each week I pick up whatever is on sale, and then try and come up with creative meal plans. This week, I can’t wait to take that 98c mango and pair it with some sweetened brown rice!
A note about store locations: Though the Hollywood market is closer, I can’t stand weaving in and out of tourists & traffic. Try the Eagle Rock shop if you’re on the Eastside.
